It was my brother-in-law's house. It was an electrical fire that couldn't be helped the house was very old. Everyone made it out okay including the cat and dog thank God. But they lost everything so any donations you guys want to give them would be acceptable. Carol DePrato

There were two house fires in Riverdale Park within 16 hours where the occupants were displaced.  One fire was on Tuckerman Street yesterday morning and the other fire was on Riverdale Road early this morning.  Volunteer firefighters from Riverdale, Hyattsville, Bladensburg, College Park, and/or Bunker Hill (Brentwood) responded to both incidents.
The fire on Tuckerman Street was likely caused by unattended cooking.  Please review this cooking safety fact sheet from the NFPA to avoid such fires.  http://www.nfpa.org/~/media/Files/Safety%20information/Safety%20tip%20sheets/cookingsafety.pdf
The cause of the fire on Riverdale Road is not known.
Please remember that on nights, weekends, and holidays, your fire and EMS service is provided solely by volunteer firefighters/EMTs from Riverdale and surrounding areas!
