> Summer Story Series: Discover Dutch Art
> Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays
> July 9–August 1
> West Building Rotunda
> Ages 4–7
> Would you like to visit the Netherlands this summer? Pack your imagination and travel to the National Gallery of Art! You'll visit a windmill, sail the seas, discover mince pie, and listen to a concert. Participants learn about landscapes, still life, seascapes, and music by reading children's books, looking at 17th-century Dutch art, and making a souvenir to document each adventure. You will receive a passport to the summer story series and a stamp for each program attended. If you collect all four stamps at the end of the summer, you will receive a prize!

> Discover Rembrandt
> July 10, 17, 24, 31 at 11:30 a.m.
> West Building Lecture Hall
> Ages 4 and up
> Join us for three animated short films based on children's books. Getting to Know the World's Greatest Artists: Rembrandt (Mike Venezia, 2002) introduces young audiences to the 17th-century Dutch artist. In this lighthearted and informative look at one of the world's most famous artists, let Rembrandt van Rijn tell you the story of his own life and creative career. This film will be preceded by Art (Patrick McDonnell, 2008), which introduces children to the imaginative world of art and how a picture really can be worth a thousand words, and The Cow Who Fell in the Canal (Gene Deitch, 2008), about a cow named Hendrika who longs to see the city. She gets her wish when she rides an old raft down one of Holland's most picturesque canals on the way to adventure. Approximately 40 minutes.

Beginning with the delightful Luxo Jr. (John Lasseter, 1986), the first computer-animated film nominated for an Academy Award, this collection of shorts showcases Pixar's contributions to the art of filmmaking. The series will include hilarious favorites: For the Birds (Ralph Eggleston, 2001), Mike's New Car (Pete Docter and Roger Gould, 2003), and One Man Band (Mark Andrews and Andrew Jimenez, 2006). Approximately 45 minutes.
