[RP TownTalk] Go Green in 2017 – Plant Trees! April 22 at 9 a.m.

CKAR is launching a new campaign to expand tree canopy in the county by planting trees on private property. The first 100 trees will be planted this spring in neighborhoods in and around Riverdale Park, Bladensburg and Cheverly. Many more trees will be planted in the fall. The campaign is being conducted in cooperation with Prince George’s Department of the Environment and Chesapeake Bay Trust. More information at CKARCDC.org.

What: CKAR will plant 14 trees with End Time Harvest Ministries Wellness Ambassadors and University of Maryland landscape architecture students.

When: Saturday, April 22nd at 9 a.m.

Where: 5224 Edmonston Road, at Hamilton Street, Riverdale
*Parking available at Fletchers Field Park, directly across Kenilworth Avenue.

Edmonston Road Rain Garden Park Imagine a transformation of the neglected site across Kenilworth Avenue from Fletchers Field... walking paths, benches, gardens and trees... all working together in a system of rain gardens that will capture and clean stormwater runoff. This project is a public/private partnership funded through Prince George’s County Department of Public Works & Transportation/Office of Highway Maintenance and Department of the Environment; State of Maryland Department of Housing & Community Development/State Revitalization/ Community Legacy Program awarded to CKAR, Inc.
