[RP TownTalk] Huh?

Aha!!!! (ATTENTION TOWN WEBMASTER!!!!)
That's funny.
You are undeniably right the two names do get used interchangeably. But
they are distinct.
Used to be the incorporated town's name was Riverdale. And the wider area
(best defined by the Post Office's zip code 20737) was also known as
Riverdale (though subdivisions have names such as East Riverdale and
Riverdale Heights). But the town voted in 1998 (IIRC) to change the name of
the town to Riverdale Park.
The name Riverdale Park, the police department and other wonderful services
and attention provided by the town -- and taxes that pay for those - are
all attached specifically to the town. The wider area that lies outside
the incorporated town's boundaries are, like much of the county,
unincorporated areas of Prince George's County.
