My friend Jeanine runs these classes, and the person quoted at the end of
the message told me herself how helpful these classes were for her.

A way to put on your oxygen mask, if meditation is the way you want to do
it.

*Making sense of the world and myself!** An 8-week meditation class
to support women in an uncertain world*

*Are you feeling the need for a deeper understanding of yourself and the
world as it is now? Are you feeling anxious, heart broken, angry, or
energized? Perhaps all of these emotions and then some! How do we open to
the complexity of feelings, understanding and compassion in a new way, and
stay grounded as we engage meaningfully on the world stage?*
*These are the questions that we will explore together in this mindfulness
meditation class for women. *

Mindfulness meditation offers us specific instructions for how to be with
what is, how to navigate our varied and juicy emotions and how to actively
engage in the world. We learn how to be with our state of mind in a way
that is gentle and effective, while also proactively noticing all that we
already have in our lives. Through this conscious awareness we gain
clarity, open to compassion and touch the beauty, ease and joy of life.
This strengthens us and leads to resilience!

If this resonates - then this class is for you! Classes are intimate with
only 6-8 participants thus building solidarity and connection.

*WHEN: *Thursdays, April 20 - June 8, 2017 * 7:30-9 pm

*WHERE*: Takoma Park, 6930 Carroll Ave (more details upon registration)

*COST*: 259 for 8 weeks and includes a book

*"As a long time caregiver for my mother who had recently passed away, I
was trying to identify a way to release the guilt for never being able to
do enough, and to develop some sense of peace. Jeanine's meditation
instruction and guidance assisted me along this path, and also helped me to
find my sense of humor, a vital part of my personality which had gone
missing for several years. The support offered by Jeanine and other
members of our small meditation group was a godsend." *F.C., meditation
student, 2014

*More info:*

The skill that is honed in meditation is mindfulness, which is an
exploratory mental state that allows you to be actively watchful, curious,
and accepting of what is. Research shows that mindfulness meditation
decreases stress, improves our overall health and well-being, and brings a
sense of spaciousness so many of us are craving. Intended for both new and
experienced practitioners, this class will focus on key elements of
mindfulness meditation. You will learn the following in this class:

 ▪ how to be present with grief, fear, anxiety, anger and other juicy
emotions,

▪ how to develop and/or deepen a regular meditation practice,

▪ how to be present to the joy in your everyday life and interactions,

▪ how to be compassionate with yourself and others,

▪ how to see yourself honestly and make friends with what you see.

In this class, we will shine the light of awareness onto ourselves and our
emotions in the spirit of curiosity and acceptance. During each session
there is instruction on meditation, time for participants to ask questions
and share, and a meditation period. The class is interactive in nature.

*"Jeanine is such a wonderful meditation instructor. I came into the class
with a bit of nervousness about just sitting still and meditating.
Jeanine's gentle, confident style and true expertise demystified it for me.
I now find meditation a healthy addition to my life, a tool that helps me
with anxiety and confidence, and a calming respite in my busy life."* Jane,
