The Second Annual Green Expo, sponsored by the Hyattvsille Environmental Committee and the Hyattsville Horticultural Society (HHS), held at 4310 Gallatin Street, presents local vendors, food trucks, electric cars, and more. This year's event will be bigger and better. Come visit the HHS in the Multipurpose Room of the Municipal Bldg. for talks on beekeeping, protecting pollinators, and a cooking demonstration.  Hyattsville's own Dr. Nicole Farmer will present “Nourishing Foods for You and for the Planet”  at 11:00.  Dr. Farmer was featured on a PBS News Hour segment in May explaining her approach to nutrition education for her patients through teaching them how to cook healthy food.  Saturday she will be using produce from the Hyattsville Community Garden--local talent, local food!  One of Hyattsville's own beekeepers Nikki Thompson discusses honey bees, bee keeping, and protecting pollinators, with local honey for sale, at 1:00.The HHS will have for sale pamphlets on gardening, as well as recycled gardening and nature books; recycled gardening tools; and recycled flower pots, planters, flower frogs, and more from our members.  Take advantage of the opportunity to ask Miss Floribunda and others for horticultural advice.
Come get information, earn coupons, and buy sustainable goods from several local and regional vendors, including: Arrow Bicycle, Big Bad Woof, Calvert Brewing, Capital Area Native Plants Group (native plants for Fall Planting), Chesapeake Natives (pollinator information), Community Forklift, local children’s book author and song writer Richard Morris, Robert Harper Books, Sierra Club, Tanglewood Works, Vigilante Coffee, Yasmin’s Jewelry, yogis, the Honey’s Empanadas and Healthy Fool food trucks, Prince George’s County Department of the Environment, and more than a dozen electric vehicle owners (all showing off their rides and the advantages of going gas-free).  Local talent will perform throughout the day.
