Premiere Week - A message from Tag Team Kitchen:
We are Tag Team Kitchen: Baking Up Purpose
In the kitchen, I work along side my son, a young man with high-functioning
autism, baking handmade pizza crusts. He has a passion for cooking and we
both have a love of home made pizza.
It’s close to impossible to find work when you have a communication
disability. So, I developed a business plan and we started baking out of
our home. I adapt and modify baking techniques and recipes to suit his
strengths. Then he can work independently to prepare dough and assist in
baking. We make a great team!
With support and proven practices in place, he is able to provide a
delicious and wholesome product for our customers to create their own
pizzas at home, using the bounty of fresh ingredients they can find at the
farmers market. Our handmade pizza crusts and pizza kits are available at
two farmers markets in Montgomery county, and now at the Riverdale Park
Farmers Market on Thursdays from 3:00-7:00 pm.
Working gives us purpose, and everyone who wants to work deserves a chance!
That’s the idea behind Tag Team Kitchen.
Mystic Water Soap is offering a new flavor of their Whipped Shea Butter and
free soap samples while they last (extended one week!).
ECO City Farms <https://business.facebook.com/ECOCityFarms/?fref=mentions>
is back!
After a short hiatus from our CSA program and the Riverdale Farmers Market,
ECO City Farms is back and better than ever! In three short months the
staff at ECO have applied over eight hundred wheelbarrows of compost (more
than doubling the growing space at the Edmonston farm), built a new mobile
greenhouse for our Bladensburg farm, renovated our kitchen and processing
facility, and have nearly completed the construction of our on-site
classroom/community center. We look forward to seeing you and all of your
friends and neighbors at our local market this Thursday!
Groff''s Content Farm offers great quality sustainably raised beef, pork,
chicken and lamb
and is featuring their amazing Chicken Pot Pie on their prepared meal menu.
A Little Pottery is coming to market again.
Maryland Market Money is back with a maximum $5 per week match on
WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers, WIC Fruit and Vegetable
Checks &
SNAP purchases.
We are offering a new option for local businesspeople that complement our
food options.
One local business per week will be offered a slot at the farmers market to
offer services
and goods that the market doesn't offer for $28 per week. We suggest once a
month attendance. If you're interested, please contact us.
Prince George’s County Health Department will distribute WIC Farmers Market
Nutrition Program vouchers this week (bonus week!).
Coming Attractions:
Many new vendors will premiere this season.
We're outdoors this Thursday through November 16 with our neighbors,
friends, and vendors. The market is in full swing now, most weeks you’ll
see new crops. It's an exciting time of year.
Important Notices:
Food safety notice: Due to our county's health department regulations, dogs
are no longer welcome at the farmers market. We love dogs but had too many
incidents.
Important note about parking: only parallel parking is allowed on Maryland
Ave (the road that passes under East-West Highway) -- please do not park in
any other manner.
