Greetings.
This came in today from a friend in University Park. All are welcome.

*Handcrafted Chairs: A Hybrid Approach of Traditional and Modern
Techniques.*

Chris Desautels is a University Park resident who day job is building and
maintaining web applications for the Federal Government. But when he’s not
pushing electrons around he likes to work with his hands, building
furniture in his small but well-equipped workshop. As of late, he has been
focusing on building chairs, using a combination of traditional and modern
techniques.

Chairs are challenging projects, involving organic sculpted shapes, precise
joinery, compound angles and curved wood. In the end, they need to be
strong, light, comfortable and visually balanced.

As usual this lecture will take place at the University Park Church of the
Brethren at 5 pm located at 4413 Tuckerman Street
<https://maps.google.com/?q=4413+Tuckerman+Street&entry=gmail&source=g>.
Please contact Dave Brosch at 301-779-3168 if you want more information or
may have an interesting topic for a future lecture. The following lecture
on *Saturday September 8th *will be about the Chesapeake Bay and efforts to
protect and restore this national treasure.
