I disagree that the “weeds” are acting as meadows. I suffered from a flash flood on E/W highway a couple of years ago because those “weeds” contributed to the blocking of Wells Run.

I respectfully disagree... those "weeds" are acting as meadows, essentially, which is prime pollinator habitat. It would be awesome if we could un-culvert Wells Run (the creek that runs through and under there) and have those plants grow alongside. It would help immensely with our flooding issues, too.

I agree. The weeds on 410 look awful. I would gladly assist in the process of cutting the grass if the State Highway Administration would authorize it.

I agree. The weeds in the medians on East West Highway and on Kenilworth look terrible. The entity that is in charge of the weeds is (as I understand it) the State Highways Administration, not even the county. You can file a request for service here:

http://marylandsha.force.com/customercare/request_for_service

I'm pretty sure the Town has already done this, but it can't hurt for a bunch of residents to do it too!

Years ago, our town planted trees in the median and while the trees were maturing the town took over mowing the grass. That was the only time in (my) memory that our medians were well-maintained.

I wonder how much it would cost the town to take over this public service?

(Re: the trees in Wells Run, I know the Town has been working with the Army Corps of Engineers on this issue. Not sure of the status, so I'm copying some town officials to see if they can provide an update.)

I am so glad Audrey sent her message. I was going to do it yesterday as well and got sidetracked. The weeds on E/W are ridiculous. Who do we need to contact to clean it up. No other jurisdiction look like ours.

The tall weeds attract ticks, flies, rats, etc. I noticed Greenbelt doesn't have this problem. Also trees are growing in the Wells Run area in the middle of the highway and will probably impede creek flow and cause flooding. I think this is is a disgrace and should be addressed right away. Also if you talk to the county, please ask them not to cut up the trash with the mower and have it fly all over the place as they have done in the past. Please pick up the trash before you mow. If the county cannot handle it, could the town do it and bill the county. I would like to see a nice clean town.
