*RP Council Approves Development Zone, Go Green Initiative*

*RPBA to Hold Special Meeting Wednesday For Town to Unveil Fees-Waived
Programs*

*Riverdale Park, MD (May 8, 2018)*– It was a bright and sunny night Monday
when the Town Council voted unanimously to approve two measures aimed at
encouraging businesses and town property owners – including homeowners – to
install solar panels by reducing all Town fees, along with another
ordinance that establishes a redevelopment zone initiative incentive
program.

The two programs were originally introduced at the April 2 Town Legislative
meeting and are considered the core components of Riverdale Park’s new
economic development program touted as the *Come Grow With Us!*campaign.

Development Services Director *Kevin Simpson*will be the featured
speaker *Wednesday,
May 9*at the monthly meeting of the Riverdale Park Business Association
where he will discuss the details of the two new measures. Simpson will
also provide an update on the $30,000 grant programs launched earlier this
year by the Town that are aimed at small businesses and are designed to
spark growth in under-developed portions of the Town. The Wednesday
meeting, which begins at 5:30 pm at Town Hall, is open to the public this
month because the solar ordinance waives fees to anyone in the community
seeking solar panel installation. RPBA encourages your participation and
involvement in this important session aimed at sparking economic growth in
Riverdale Park.
