I object to the criticism of Councilman Henry. Where you saw him lecturing and pontificating, I saw a generous, honorable man publicly offer his services to help any immigrant in town to file an application for citizenship and help with the process. I was impressed. Actually helping immigrants to become citizens is a far cry better than just giving them the right to vote in a small town where they would only be voting for Mayor and Council. It would give them the opportunity to be involved in the county, state and Federal government as well. That would be progress and a great service to the immigrant population.
As far as the two elderly ladies described as such by Mr. Yorke, you may be guilty of discrimination. Age and gender are protected classes.
Describing these people as such, you are implying that they are insignificant. This particular thread is about a discrimination lawsuit. Loose lips and thoughtless comments can lead to big trouble.
As far as Cm Henry leaving in a huff and stumbling off into the darkness....I was there...I didn't see it. I did see him leave, but he seemed to be walking normally and with no attitude.
It's ok to disagree with someone, but this embellishment is just too much.

The Henry’s would have a clue about what is going on in town if Councilmember Henry could find his way to Town Hall on an occasional Monday night and listen to what’s going on. Maybe even put his mobile phone down and participate in the discussion. Even when he’s there, he’s not.

But he did make it to the much-ballyhooed immigrant voters meeting earlier in May, he lectured all in the room — he pontificates perfectly— but was joined in the losing vote by only one other and left the meeting in a huff. He did, however, stop outside the Town Hall long enough to be congratulated by two elderly women who also were against new voters. For a minute slick Henry reveled in the glory of his blindness, then stumbled off into the darkness of the evening.

Inside, the rest of the Riverdale Park council moved down the agenda, discussing business the way town leaders do.

Mayor Alan,
What legal team? That’s a generic response. The fact remain - the news is out in the media and residents should have been made aware of both lawsuits, yet we had to hear from a indirect source. What we have here is a failure to communicate.

By the way, have all Council members been made aware of the lawsuits before and after?

The Town's legal team has asked that we not discuss this case, both during the case and until all post-trial motions and resulting rulings are completed. I am hopeful (but far from sure) that we can discuss this within a few weeks.

Sincerely,

Alan

Mr. Mayor,

Would this action be considered a benefit to the change in Mayor and gov't structure?

What is going on in this Town!?

As the Mayor, I am sure you were aware, while residents were kept in the dark. This action should have been included in "somebody's" report to inform the residents.

Who pays for this?
