Hi fellow Riverdale residents -

The Showing Up for Racial Justice Green Line chapter has two upcoming
events. Come meet other locals interested in anti-racist efforts in the
county.

The first is a *SURJ Green line open house* to find out more about the
chapter, and the second is a event about *"**Racism in Law Enforcement:
Recognition and Reform"*.  Please see below for more information on each
event.

*Showing Up for Racial Justice Green Line Open House*
Please join us for a casual evening to learn more about Showing Up for
Racial Justice Green Line (SURJ GL), our work, and how to plug in! Bring a
friend - kiddos welcome!

Justice, a national organization of individuals and groups working to

*Racism in Law Enforcement: Recognition and Reform*
SURJ GL is partnering with Prince George's African American Museum and
Cultural Center for another educational event focused on how racism affects
both police performance and the communities in which they work in Prince
George's.  Save the date and be sure to jump on the Early Bird Special
running through October 4th!

This event will be a panel discussion with:


- Ron Hampton, 20+ year veteran of DC Police Department and National Police
Accountability Project board member, who will provide the national context
of police misconduct and reforms.


- Jonathan Hutto, long time social justice activist and author on social
justice issues, who will speak to the history of community policing
concerns and reform efforts in our Prince George's County.


Early Bird Tickets are $20  ($25 after 10/4/18), but no one will be turned
away for lack of funds. Childcare, transportation assistance, and other
accommodations are available upon request. Please contact
greenlinesurj at gmail.com at least 48 hours in advance of the event if you
need payment assistance or require any accommodations including childcare.
All proceeds benefit the speakers and PGAAMCC.
