[RP TownTalk] TownTalk Digest, Vol 146, Issue 23

The police need to station patrols along Taylor Road from Riverdale Road to LaFayette Road at night- I regularly walk my dog in this area, and can't count the number of speeders and "run-thru-the-stop-sign" drivers that pass us. Enforcement=Compliance.

Speaking of speed, there are many cars that are completely barreling through the stop signs on Lafayette as they go over the bridge or come from the cut-through. The police could make a lot in revenue if they had someone on the scene.

We have a similar problem on Queensbury between 49th Ave and the firehouse with a few hit and runs in the last year. The traffic from East-West Hwy cuts through this area during rush hour and is sometimes so heavy that it makes crossing the street difficult and unsafe. Perhaps a speed bump would be helpful on this block as well.

While I haven't noticed any hit and runs over here but we have a similar
traffic problem on Ravenswood Rd heading West. Cars use Ravenswood Rd as a
short cut to bypass traffic on EW highway. During morning rush hour we have
way too much traffic. Even though we have speed bumps it doesn't discourage
the drivers. I would prefer something else in addition. Perhaps making the
area one way unless you are a resident and can prove it. Similar to what
they already do on Queensbury between route 1 and queens chapel.

What about signs saying NO THRU TRAFFIC.? Residents only.? Ravenswood Rd is dangerous as they drive too fast and get mad if you are entering or exiting your car.? There are kids grade school & up riding bikes in & out of cars who are not great at holding their balance.? These same cars tip the brake and speed on not coming to a full stop.? A car almost hit a kid who ran out into the street because he expected the car to come to a full stop and it did not.? The car slammed on their brakes.

I don?t feel safe going any faster then 25 going up Taylor on my way home
from work. Cars barrel towers me and I see people get upset when I stop at
the stop signs.

I'm confused. I thought the speed limit was 25 mph on Taylor Road?

Regardless - it does sound like some judicious traffic enforcement would
help with all this. A perfect issue to bring up at the Chief's Community
Advisory Committee meetings.

People in a hurry don't follow speed limits.
