*RIVERDALE PARK BUSINESS ASSOCIATION*

*Inspectors Speak To Area Businesses Tonight*

*REMINDER!*

*Riverdale Park, MD, May 8, 2019 – *Every business operator knows that
before a business opens, the owner’s wallet opens and their world and their
schedules are dominated by those who conduct inspections, and issue permits
and licenses. Businesses often travel through a regulatory maze that not
only confuses a seasoned business operator but is hard-explained even by
the best regulators and elected officials who propose most of the rules of
the game.

Join the Riverdale Park Business Association on *THIS EVENING AT 5:30 at
Town Hall*(5008 Queensbury Road, RPMD, 20737) for a RECEPTION sponsored by
the Town of Riverdale Park to celebrate Economic Development Week. Then, at
6 pm, join RPBA for the first of what certainly will be an ongoing series
of “Meet the Inspector.” RPBA Vice President *Michael Herman, Esq*. will
emcee an interesting 90-minute session with *Lt. Chris Harrison*of the
Prince George’s County Office of the Fire Marshal, and with Riverdale Park
Code Enforcement Chief *Brad Goshen*. The program will kick-off with a
brief presentation by*Katherine Heintzelman*, a certified lead inspector
licensed in Maryland and the District. Her last presentation to RPBA on
Oct. 11, 2017 shed light on the mystery of Maryland lead inspection
requirements and why the State is cracking down on property owners with
bone-crunching fines.

This is a *SPECIAL RPBA monthly**meeting *intended to help business
operators understand what is expected of them while providing regulators an
opportunity to communicate what they need from business.

Riverdale Park has designated May 6-11 as “Economic Development Week”
and business
operators, investors and the community is invited to a reception in Town
Hall beginning at 5:30pm.

Chamber of Commerce President *David Harrington *is also expected to
address the meeting and *Enterprise Community Partners, Inc.*, a DC-based
non-profit will unveil details of a business assessment study it is
conducting in Riverdale Park and greater Riverdale that intends to record
the various needs and challenges faced by area businesses.

*Join RPBA Today!*

RPBA is accepting new members, rebuilding its committees, and sharpening
its focus. If you own and operate a business in Riverdale Park, Greater
Riverdale or the surrounding communities, join us and help ignite a
thriving business environment in Greater Riverdale. *We meet on the Second
Monday of the Month at 6 pm. Usually meetings are held in Riverdale Park
Town Hall, 5008 Queensbury Road, RPMD, 20737*but we also do a Road Show
that takes our meetings to our members’ establishments or a rotating basis.
And that’s the FUN part!

The business association is currently developing a roadshow series that
will conduct meetings in *Greater Riverdale Area businesses *to showcase
those businesses and provide RPBA members with an on-going toolkit to
success. Members will also get news and information, and an eye on business
development that they won’t get anywhere else.

*Annual membership fee is $50. Please make checks payable to RPBA. *

*Economic Development Week May 6 - 11th*

*Greetings Riverdale Park Businesses, Investors, and Organizations!*

The Town of Riverdale Park is celebrating *Economic Development Week*,
starting *May 6th – 11th*. Economic Development Week recognizes the
importance of business and investment in the community to create jobs,
improve quality of life, and generate wealth in the community.

In honor of Economic Development Week, the Town adopted a Proclamation at
the April 29th Work Session. Furthermore, the Town wishes to use this
opportunity to invite businesses, organizations, investors, and other
stakeholders to share their sentiments regarding economic development,
while introducing their business to the community. The Riverdale Park
Office of Development Services is seeking profiles from business,
organizations, investors, etc. to include on the Town’s outreach tools
(social media / website) during Economic Development Week. Simply provide a
brief profile, containing 100 words or less, explaining the history and
background of your business in Town, along with a statement to address the
question; “What does economic development mean to you?”

Thank you for your investment! *– Kevin Simpson, Director, Riverdale Park
Dept. of Development Services. *

*A Welcoming Community, Come Grow with Us!*
