*RIVERDALE PARK BUSINESS ASSOCIATION MEETING **POSTPONED TO OCT. 16, 2019*

*Riverdale Park, MD, Oct. 3, 2019* – The Riverdale Park Business
Association has moved its October meeting to the third Wednesday of the
month from its regularly scheduled second Wednesday of the month due to the
Yom Kippur holiday. The Jewish day of atonement begins at sunset, Tuesday,
Oct. 8 and ends at sunset, Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019.

The October meeting will be held the following week on Wednesday, Oct. 16,
2019 beginning at 6 pm at Riverdale Park Town Hall, 5008 Queensbury Rd.,
Riverdale Park, MD 20737.

The association will hold annual elections that evening. Four individuals
from the Riverdale Park business community have registered interest in
leadership positions. Former Riverdale Park Mayor *Michael Herman, Esq.*,
has announced his interest in being elevated to president from his current
vice president position. Michael has practiced law since 1992. He specializes
in business law, litigation, land use/zoning, personal injury, and
government relations. In addition to being a popular Riverdale Park
attorney, where he serves as principal of his six-member firm, Michael is
deeply rooted in various philanthropic and educational organizations in
Prince George’s County. He currently serves on the board of the Alice
Ferguson Foundation and had previously served as president. The Alice
Ferguson Foundation is a regional environmental education organization
based in Accokeek, Md. He also serves on the Board of Joe’s Movement
Emporium, a dance and performance non-profit in Mount Rainier, Md.

*Dalton E. Patterson, Esq*., a 2010 University of Maryland graduate who
earned his law degree from Notre Dame in 2015, has announced his desire to
be vice president. Dalton clerked for the Honorable C. Philip Nichols, Jr.
in Prince George’s County Circuit Court. After taking time to work on two
political campaigns, he began practicing as a Plaintiff’s attorney for a
boutique law firm. He joined the Riverdale Park firm of Meyers, Rodbell and
Rosenbaum earlier this year where he specializes in personal injury law,
civil litigation and medical malpractice.

*Lorena Vallejo*, branch manager for Old Line Bank at Riverdale Park
Station, has offered to serve as the association’s treasurer. Lorena has
worked recently with current RPBA treasurer and veteran RPBA member Bruce
Wernek to consolidate RPBA accounts at Old Line Bank. She has spearheaded
the group’s effort to streamline our finances and made it possible for RPBA
now accept credit cards for membership and other financial activities.

If elected, *Jeffrey Yorke*, of Yorke Partners, has agreed to continue
serving as secretary.

*And that ain’t all folks…*

In addition to the RPBA election, the Oct. 16 meeting agenda includes an
update and possible finalization of the RPBA logo, creation of a committee
to plan RPBA’s role in Riverdale Park’s 100th Anniversary celebration in
June 2020, and a discussion – and maybe decision – on where RPBA will hold
its annual holiday party.
