In a January 1925 address to the American Society of Newspaper Editors in
Washington, DC, President John Calvin Coolidge, Jr. reportedly said "The
business of business is business." It was a widely publicized misquote.

Coolidge actually told the group "After all, the chief business of the
American people is business. They are profoundly concerned with producing,
buying, selling, investing and prospering in the world."

And that is exactly what the Riverdale Park Business Association is all
about. Driving feet into your businesses, upping and expanding the profile
of Riverdale Park and the greater Riverdale area, and putting businesses
together to mutually solve problems and remove hurdles that plague business
operators daily. RPBA aims to reignite business zest at its Sept. 11
meeting in the private dining room of its most recent membership recruit
 -- *Burtons Grill & Bar in **Riverdale Park Station, 4440 Van Buren
Street, Riverdale Park, MD 20737, 240-825-3988. *The business meeting and
the fun begin at 6 pm*. *

Join dozens of your fellow businesses every second Wednesday of the month
at 6 pm to discuss area business and development growth and opportunities
that could expand your business horizons and learn how others have cut
through the maze of hurdles and obstacles put in businesses way by
oh-so-helpful regulators. The good news is that often those same regulators
are in attendance and are genuinely open to hearing concerns of the
business community and working with us. *Good communication is a
key element to progressing forward and RPBA provides that platform.*

Each quarter, RPBA holds a monthly meeting in a member's business to get an
up-close look at how a successful and growing business manages its way to
prosperity. Missing a roadshow mixer is a lost opportunity for a fast, free
and painless education. And you are missing out on a ton of fun.

RPBA's Sept. 11 event is also a great opportunity to meet Burton's General
Manger *Justin Thompson* and Manager *John Grant* and find out how they've
made Burtons a sophisticated and casual dining hot spot in the 18 months

RPBA is accepting new members, rebuilding its committees, and sharpening
its focus. If you own and operate a business in Riverdale Park, Greater
Riverdale or the surrounding communities, join us and help ignite a
thriving business environment in Greater Riverdale. *We meet on the Second
Monday of the Month at 6 pm. Usually meetings are held in Riverdale Park
Town Hall, 5008 Queensbury Road, RPMD, 20737*but we also do a Road Show
that takes our meetings to our members’ establishments or a rotating basis.

The business association is currently developing a roadshow series that
will conduct meetings in *Greater Riverdale Area businesses *to showcase
those businesses and provide RPBA members with an on-going toolkit to
success. Members will also get news and information, and an eye on business
development that they won’t get anywhere else.
