<DIV>One on One</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I have lived in Riverdale Park for the last 17 years and have a sincere desire to improve </DIV>
<DIV>the environment in our Town and Ward. I am very concerned about the situation in our Town </DIV>
<DIV>Center, which has been largely vacant for the last 25 years. Recently, the Riverdale </DIV>
<DIV>Bookshop, a mainstay in our community, was forced to vacate its space on Queensbury Rd. The </DIV>
<DIV>former Dorsey Plumbing building and the Riverdale Club space also have been vacant for </DIV>
<DIV>several years. These vacant buildings reflect negatively on our Town and affect the </DIV>
<DIV>surrounding businesses. I've owned and operated commercial rental property in the Town </DIV>
<DIV>Center for the last 11 years so I am familiar with the situation there. We have been </DIV>
<DIV>waiting long enough for something to happen. If given the opportunity, I will take whatever </DIV>
<DIV>actions are necessary to get viable tenants in the vacant spaces in the Town Center and </DIV>
<DIV>facilitate the improvement and leasing of the former Dorsey Plumbing and Riverdale Bookshop </DIV>
<DIV>buildings.<BR> <BR>I own a historic home and I have always had a fascination with early architecture and </DIV>
<DIV>design. There are a variety of older homes and businesses in our Ward, which do much to add </DIV>
<DIV>color and distinction to our neighborhoods. I would like to protect these homes and </DIV>
<DIV>businesses preserving the Old Town environment that many of us take for granted. Don't get </DIV>
<DIV>me wrong, business development is important, but I want to live in a neighborhood, not next </DIV>
<DIV>to an apartment building, bank, or a drugstore.</DIV>
<DIV><BR>Whether you vote for me or not, I would like to encourage all of you to get involved. Why </DIV>
<DIV>not attend the Council meetings at the Town Hall. Doing so will give you the opportunity to </DIV>
<DIV>voice your concerns and opinions to the very people who are making decisions, which </DIV>
<DIV>ultimately effect you and me.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>We have a pretty competitive race for the Ward 1 seat since there are three candidates to </DIV>
<DIV>choose from. Please consider me for the position of Councilman Ward 1 Riverdale Park. I </DIV>
<DIV>would like very much to be given the opportunity to make good things happen in our Ward. If </DIV>
<DIV>you would like to vote for me, please write my name in the space provided on the ballot. </DIV>
<DIV>The voting judges at the polls will be happy to help you with this.</DIV>
