Staff, Parents/Guardians, Community Folks,

We have just received word from the Washington Post that Hyattsville MS will be featured in the Washington Post (magazine section, I think) on April 15 as one of the 30 outstanding middle schools in the Washington Metropolitan Area. What a great bit of news to receive after our second successful day of MSA testing this week! Just when we all are wondering (in our exhaustion) why we do all that we do each day, here comes this recognition. As I always say, "Things happen for a reason."

I want to thank each one of you for everything you do each day to help the students at HMS to be the wonderful students that they are with the promising futures that they have.

Also, good news!! After saving for 8 years for the money to purchase the marquee for the front of our building (thanks to each individual and group that donated over the years) and after almost one year of trying to purchase and install the marquee, it is finally up! Now we have to learn how to put the words on it. Thanks to all who have contributed with special recognition to Mr. Parrott, Building Supervisor, and Mr. Jordon, Assistant Principal, for their efforts.

NOTE: MSA Math is next Tuesday and Wednesday. Let's try for 100% attendance/participation!!

Gail
