<P>He made commitments (part of the sales agreement when he bought the Town Center) to rehap his property which he has not done. If in fact the Town has to take him to court to finish up, what's he going to say?</P>
<P>As far as the "delicate relationship" part below, the man is in the cat bird seat. He does whatever he wants and no one says anything to him. His didn't keep his commitments to finish the Town Center. The property has been vacant for at least 5 years. He bought two more properties (kicked out the Riverdale Bookshop) gutted one of them and then left them vacant for around three years. For all practical purposes, these properties are derelicts. You lost me on this one Jay.</P>
<P>Patience, patience! The properties at the Town Center have been largely vacant for over 20 years. My patience is wearing thin.</P>

<DIV>Bruce,</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Here's the problem with your ploy. </DIV>
<DIV>1. Jemal is not going to be scared into doing anything by threat of being taken to court. You've got to be kidding me! So if your're going to do that, it had better be a good suit, and we'd better be prepared to have the bluff called. Yes indeed it WILL be a big battle. "See you in court!", is what they'll say. Posturing Shmosturing. All it will succeed in doing is aggravating an already delicate relationship with this community, that still has a chance of flourishing, thanks to the continued efforts of our Mayor and Council. Is THAT what you want? To kick a sleeping giant? </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I'm not saying that we don't continue to hold their feet to the fire on things that are contractually owed. Of course we do. But you can do that through arbitration and negotiation. It's called diplomacy. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Our slap happy "sue them" society clouds our vision. </DIV>
<DIV>Patience people, patience! </DIV>

<P>It's not going to be a big battle or cost millions of dollars. It's called postering. It's the threat of going to court that may stimulate Jemal to do something. You know the old saying, the squeakest wheel gets the most grease. Jemal's got a lot of irons in the fire and Riverdale is down in the noise. I am proposing we as a Town make ourselves visible so he says to himself "Oh yeh, Riverdale, I remember that place. Then maybe he'll remember he's got to finish the rehab and lease his spaces out.</P></FONT></BLOCKQUOTE></DIV>
