Since the stop, officers have located several parked vehicles that were stuck with green paint balls. As vandalism victims report the incidents, the suspects can be charged with additional crimes and held accountable for the damages. Please check the driver's side and rear of your vehicles for paint damage. If you are a victim of these vandalisms, and a resident of the City, please call the Hyattsville City Police Department at 301 985-5060 to report the incident and refer to case number 08-1193. If you are a victim and the damage occurred outside the City limits, report the incident to your local police department and also refer to the Hyattsville City Police Department case number.

Most "paint balls" contain a water-based paint. If the paint is fairly fresh, it often can be removed without much difficulty. If left for a period of time, it may not be possible to remove without causing damage to existing paint. Due to the velocity of the paint balls when fired from the gun, it is also possible that glass and metal damage may occur.
