I only found out about East-West a month ago by doing a Google Search for nearby hardware stores.
You could also go to the Hardware store in the Beltway Plaza mall. They aren't as exciting as E-W, but they are knowledgeable and very happy to help you.

--- On Wed, 10/8/08, Sarah Wayland <sarah.wayland@gmail.com> wrote:

From: Sarah Wayland <sarah.wayland@gmail.com>
Subject: [RP TownTalk] East West Hardware closing....
To: "TownTalk" <towntalk@riverdale-park.org>
Date: Wednesday, October 8, 2008, 5:23 PM

Just saw this note on the University Park e-mail list.
