It's been a while since I read the article that mentions the rooster, but I seem to remember it putting the town in a rather positive, quirky-but-charming light.
<div><br></div><div>At any rate, I agree with Maya that it would be pretty hard to write community news without monitoring the community mailing lists. The Gazette has had great articles about the farmer's market and so many other feel-good events - it's a big source of community support. </div>
<div><br></div><div>And, not to nit-pick my favorite Cranky-Old-Coot's posting, but I'd like to clarify that the Gazette was discussed as "trash" only in the context of being one of the items, like phone books and junk mail, which accumulate at vacant houses. We were discussing what pro-active strategies the town should take regarding vacant properties - it was not a disparaging remark about the content of the Gazette. :) </div>
