<DIV>Joyce Alderson Voigt passed away yesterday November 3rd</DIV>
<DIV>after a long battle with cancer. She was the lady who</DIV>
<DIV>lived in the big house across from the elementary school</DIV>
<DIV>with the pretty Gazebo and flowers and the little green</DIV>
<DIV>grandparents house. She moved here in the 1970s. Besides</DIV>
<DIV>loving her family & friends, she loved flowers, Victorian era,</DIV>
<DIV>dolls, animals, fed her birds every day all kinds of table scraps</DIV>
<DIV>& the birds ate it all. She could always be seen pulling the</DIV>
<DIV>weeds from her hedges, caring for her roses & other flowers.</DIV>
<DIV>In the old days, her husband Dick (deceased) and she would</DIV>
<DIV>have a big crab feast for family & friends once a year. A group</DIV>
<DIV>of us doll collectors learned to carve our first wooden doll </DIV>
<DIV>in her garage - the Hitty doll. The wood-carving teacher </DIV>
<DIV>came all the way from Virginia to teach the classes. In the</DIV>
<DIV>old days, she and I would head off for Brimfield, Mass. to</DIV>
<DIV>the flea market fields (about 5 miles worth) for a few days,</DIV>
<DIV>rising at 3:30 am with flash lights in hand, scouring the </DIV>
<DIV>groves for doll & miniature bargains. The big thrill was to</DIV>
<DIV>find a "sleeper" - a treasure nobody there knew anything</DIV>
<DIV>about. Sometimes it rained so hard, our boots sucked</DIV>
<DIV>in the mud, but we were determined. One time I got </DIV>
<DIV>stitches in my foot with soft cast during the gas crises,</DIV>
<DIV>but we trudged on in the Greyhound bus. We came</DIV>
<DIV>home with treasures - she tied mine on my head - a </DIV>
<DIV>victorian child's rocker (like a big hat) and my other</DIV>
<DIV>treasurers she tied to my crutches. Those were the</DIV>
<DIV>good ole days. She will be missed. Her viewing is </DIV>
<DIV>this Sunday at Gasches.</DIV>
