<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" ><tr><td valign="top" style="font: inherit;"><DIV>I do not mean to throw a rock in this discussion, but don't you two guys think your responses are a bit "male chauvinist?" If the lady says the top of her tree is missing, while previously it was just leaning, that strikes me as a clear indication someone removed it. As to why someone would have done it, in my 63 years I have seen a lot of complete idiots hacking up trees under the guise of "pruning." I have even tried to explain to a few that pollarding was invented centuries ago in Europe for the sole purpose of peasants stealing firewood from the rich, landed, gentry. Some so called arborist was contacting people in Hyattsville after the storm telling them that their trees needed to be "topped." To the best of my knowledge no one fell for the ploy. Do any of the bank security cameras point towards the
injured tree?<BR> </DIV>

I’m guessing that if you were in the hospital during this time, that is likely the culprit behind your poor cypress tree’s unhappy beheading. A drive around the area also shows that coniferous trees seem to have been hit particularly hard by the snow – loads and loads are broken and in a similar state to yours. Could this be your answer?</SPAN></DIV>

Sometime in the last 2 weeks (I have no exact idea due to the fact I was in the hospital), the entire top of one of my leland cyprus trees was cut off and removed. I live in the house all by itself on 44th place (between Suntrust bank and the Dental Group building). The tree in question was one of my big ones along my fence line between Suntrust bank and me. I asked Suntrust if their landscapers (Brickman) had done it, but OF COURSE they knew nothing about it. I called the town just to make sure they didn't do it, and they assured me that public works would never cut a tree on private property. I am pretty sure that Suntrust's landscapers did it because it was hanging over my fence after the snowstorm, but they don't want to admit it due to the fact that what they would have done
would have been illegal.</SPAN></DIV></DIV>

I can only hope it will grow back.</SPAN></DIV></DIV>
