Let's all try to lower the temperature around here and remember that there are things we have in common:<br><ol><li>We all want people who live here to obey our laws.</li><li>This is a difficult problem that can't be solved with sound bites and rhetoric.</li>
<li>The folks commenting here are committed to making our town a better place to live.</li><li>As far as I know, we don't want to return to the bad old days of discriminating against each other based on skin color.</li>
<li>None of us who are committed to our side of the argument will convince the other of the superiority of our facts when we are dealing in facts.</li><li>As the mayor said, we are not responsible for enforcing federal laws at the local level. <br>
</li></ol>As for me, I believe in both justice and humanity and see no conflict between those beliefs. I am just about to close out my interest in this subject so please don't bother trying to get me to comment for another week.<br>

<p>Have you done any research on how serious this drug cartel problem is? The violence just across the border is literally a war. Mexican police officers are rewarded for defending the citizenry by getting their throats slit, decapitated, dismembered, and shot by the drug cartels. These police officers are heros of the highest order. They lay down their lives for their country. The same is true for Jan Brewer. She is sacrificing her political career and reputation to protect Arizona from this blight while the media mocks her for the sake of political correctness. It's a total utter disgrace and reflection on the state of our country. Jan Brewer is a hero and and sets an example for all those losers in Washington not to mention all the woman in this country. As far as I'm concerned she should run for president.</p>
