Classrooms of the National Capital Region (LC-NCR)
is please to announce that thanks to a grant from the National Park
Trust, we will run a camp at the Heritage Farm and practically giving it
away!<br><br>Educators from LC-NCR will be taking Washington DC area
children age 7 to 14 on a camp on the C&O Canal Heritage Farm in
Frederick County, a magical location at the confluence of the Potomac
and Monocacy Rivers for 7 weeks of incredibly fun education adventures.
Thanks to a grant from the National Park Trust, LC-NCR is able to offer
this camp at the incredible price of $50 per 1 week session, a camp
which normally costs over $400!<br><br>The first camp session starts on
June 21 and we are currently eager to
recruit campers for this incredible opportunity which just became
available. Please contact us quickly as we expect the available spots
to go quickly. Camps will focus on hand-on, inquiry-based science
activity in a fun and games settings to allow campers to experience <span style="font-style: italic;">learning by doing</span> in the natural
environment. Themes will give a unique look at the C&O Canal Park -
one of the top 10 most visited National Parks in the United States - and
an exclusive look into the history of the natural environment and its
evolution since the settlers first set foot on this continent. With
activities ranging from rock climbing, mountain biking, canoing, tubing
and more, campers will be introduced to topics such as geology, history,
biology, etc... They will explore the area and perform water quality
testing, compare various bodies of water to observations in changes in
biodiversity, compare wild vs farmed, and many more activities that
cannot all be listed here.<br><br>Here is a
breakdown of the sessions available:<br>June 21 - June 25: BioKids for
campers <span style="font-weight: bold;">age 7 to 10</span><br>June 28 -
July 2: Living the National Park Life for campers <span style="font-weight: bold;">age 7 to 10</span><br>July 12 - July 16: Gone
Canal Crazy for campers<span style="font-weight: bold;"> age 11 to 14</span><br>July
19 - July 23: Rolling Stones and Gem Secrets for campers <span style="font-weight: bold;">age 11 to 14</span><br>July 26 - July 30:
CSI: Canal Scene Investigation for campers <span style="font-weight: bold;">age 11 to 14</span><br><div>August 9 - August 13: Crazy about
CandO for campers <span style="font-weight: bold;">age 7 to 11</span><br>August
16 - August 20: Rock On! for campers <span style="font-weight: bold;">age
