National Night Out is a yearly event that encourages residents to turn on their porch lights or front-facing interior lights and come outside to meet their neighbors. Over time, communities expanded “front porch gatherings” to larger events that included entire communities, such as block parties, festivals, youth activities, and the like. As detailed on the NATW website, National Night Out is designed to: “(1) Heighten crime prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized
and fighting back.”
We are looking forward to seeing you
that evening and to continuing to build the partnership that is
essential for keeping our Town safe, clean, and beautiful.
