<b><u><span style="line-height: 18px; font-size: 12pt; ">Activities:</span></u></b><span style="line-height: 18px; font-size: 12pt; "> CPNS&K offers child-centered learning, a nurturing environment that actively includes parents, and reasonable prices. Children learn through arts and crafts, age-appropriate hands-on science projects, games, cooking, daily “special projects,” story time and more. CPNSK has a large playground with new, interesting play equipment and a sandbox; on rainy days, a gymnasium is available so the children can still run and jump. The school offers an excellent balance between free-play time and structured activities.<span> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 0in; "><b><u><span style="line-height: 18px; font-size: 12pt; ">Times & Aftercare:</span></u></b><span style="line-height: 18px; font-size: 12pt; "> CPNSK is an accredited parent-run cooperative. It offers half-day classes for children from 2 to 4 years old, half-day kindergarten for 5-year-olds, and extended day after-care until 3 p.m. Co-oping classes (except for Kindergarten) allow parents to volunteer in the classroom as teachers’ aides up to twice a month.<span> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 0in; "><b><u><span style="line-height: 18px; font-size: 12pt; ">Kindergarten:</span></u></b><span style="line-height: 18px; font-size: 12pt; "> Our Kindergarten is taught by Joan Sicher, the director of the school since 1985. Not only does Joan have many years of experience, but she is also a personable teacher who pays attention to the individual needs of each child. CPNS Kindergarten provides a wonderful transition between preschool and the rigorous environment of the higher grades of elementary school, whether public or private. Frequent outings and field trips are part of the program, and parent participation is welcome. CPNS Kindergarten is certified by the Maryland Department of Education, just like a public school. The half-day Kindergarten takes place five days a week, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. <span> </span><span> </span></span></p>
