We should be trying to preserve the thing that makes our town unique. We are one of the very few places that have retained a lot of the small town quality that is long gone from our neighing community's.

--- On Wed, 6/1/11, Sue Collins <wheadle@yahoo.com> wrote:

RE the influx of new businesses, etc., in the area. I realize that change is
inevitable, sometimes even desireable and necessary. However, I agree with
others that we need to be very careful HOW our town grows, especially if we want
to preserve our "neighborhood feel." With all of those new apartments, condos,
stores, etc., on Route 1 and other nearby areas, there's also an increase in the
need for public services, trash pickup, police/fire personnel, road maintenance,
and so on. As for traffic? Don't even mention it. Ever try to get from, for
instance Paint Branch Road and Route 1 to the Beltway exits on Route 1 up past
Cherry Hill Road at rush hour? Or, to bring it a bit closer, if you're a
pedestrian, ever try to cross Queensbury at Lafayette at rush hour? It's almost
impossible. As I said, I realize change is inevitable - geez, I
remember when
Riverdale Plaza was an actual working FARM! - but let's not just say "oh goody,
a new store, oh great, new condos," without taking all factors into
consideration.

_______________________________________________
TownTalk mailing list
To post to the list, send mail to TownTalk@riverdale-park.org
TownTalk-request@riverdale-park.org is for automated subscription processing only
http://riverdale-park.org/mailman/listinfo/towntalk

For more information about Riverdale Park, visit <A href="http://www.riverdaleparkmd.info/"
