Could a notice perhaps be put in the Town Crier that people should remove their yard sale signs in a timely manner after the sale is done? Couldn't hurt and it might help. <BR></DIV>

<DIV>There is no permit requirement for a standard yardsale, in part because if you do it more than twice a year you have to collect sales tax. On those occasions that you allude to the threat of the state taxman is more powerful than anything we are likely to do. When you suspect ongoing yard sales please contact code directly as they are best positioned to investigate and inform the state.</DIV>

Tangentially, some of the handwritten signs for "yard sales" make me think that yard sales have become a sideline business rather than a way to occasionally clear out the attic/garage junk - does the town require permits for yard sales as I know Hyattsville does?
