<p>I agree that more funding is needed in our schools. I tend to lean on the side that a better allocation of funds is our problem. Resources need to lineup with the realities if the world. Smaller classrooms and better paid teachers are only the beginning of the conversation I am holding out in continuing to leave my kids in PG county schools for now. My interests are programming across the board that speak to academically advanced students. More funding for these students in addition to Esol programming. </p>
<p>If there is a guaranteed method in place to infuse the schools portion from gambling, maybe I would jump on board. Quality education benefits us a community and nation as a whole, it should always be thoroughly supported and progressive.</p>

One hundred and fifty years ago, many folks were educated in one room schools and possibly were more educated that many of todays pupils. If our educational system is more focused on political correctness than academic excellence it won't matter how much money is spent. As far as I'm concerned, we don't need casino's. What we need is academic standards which provide a reasonable foundation for a meaningful career in todays world and teachers who are rewarded for excellence not how many pupils get through their classes. Let's face it, anyone can spend money. What do we have to show for all of the Fed stimulus money spent over the last 5 years?
Why do you think spending more money on a "status quo" educational system is going to be any different? The state has been spending more money on education for the last 50 years and what do we have to show for it? </div>

this point, I prefer to view it the way Lou does.<br><br>Regarding the point about education - I agree that the argument that<br>the funding will go to education is a red herring. The money will go<br>where the general assembly thinks it should go.<br>
