Hyattsville also has a local ordinance that forbids those. I always tear them down when I can, but be careful. Some Code departments have found signs that have razor blades on the back. As to why no one has phoned the numbers, particularly for the junk car signs, Hyattsville Code Dept. tried for years to find who was responsible. There can be a several hundred dollar fine for each sign, but the companies hire guys off street corners etc. to post the signs. Then they hide behind a series of phone numbers. All of this info is gleaned from my years of serving on Hyattsville's Code Compliance Advisory Committee. I firmly believe that if we all tore them down as soon as they were posted, the companies
would decide it was not paying off and stop doing it.</span></div><div><br></div> <div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 12pt;"> <div style="font-family: times new roman, new york, times, serif; font-size: 12pt;"> <div dir="ltr"> <font size="2" face="Arial"> <div style="margin: 5px 0px; padding: 0px; border: 1px solid rgb(204, 204, 204); height: 0px; line-height: 0; font-size: 0px;" class="hr" contentEditable="false" readonly="true"></div> <b><span style="font-weight: bold;">From:</span></b> Dwight Holmes <dwightrholmes@gmail.com><br> <b><span style="font-weight: bold;">To:</span></b> TownTalk <towntalk@riverdale-park.org> <br> <b><span style="font-weight: bold;">Sent:</span></b> Wednesday, February 6, 2013 1:48 PM<br> <b><span style="font-weight: bold;">Subject:</span></b> [RP TownTalk] What is the proper course of action fir a concerned citizen?<br> </font> </div> <br>
<div id="yiv1149210396"><div>The ugly scourge of advertising yard signs is always with us but seems to be on the rise right now. Between home and the Dental Group where I am right now I noticed 2 signs on Queensbury near Lafayette and 3 on Queensbury @Rt 1. The usual "We buy homes" and such.I'm sure if i went out on 410, I'd find more signs on the utility poles as well as yard signs.</div>
<div>Are we within our rights as citizens/neighbors to pick these up and deposit them in the trash? Or should we call Public Works? </div>
<div>It's such an eyesore that really detracts from the beauty and appeal of or town.</div>
