My son and I first say it along the train tracks on Lafayette, and within a few days we saw it our back yard as well as our neighbors. Hope the creature survives urban life!<br>

OK, I've posted in the past about a rooster roaming around the Ravenswood Road area, also about the dreaded "chicken bags" on the railroad tracks.? Here's another question that's "for the birds!"<br>
?<br>
Does anyone in the Ravenswood area have peacocks or some other type of LARGE bird?? I put out some birdseed for the birds and a couple of times now over the past few weeks there's been a VERY large brown bird partaking of the birdseed.?Haven't seen it fly, it just sort-of "strolls" around."? It's between 2 1/2- 3 feet tall.? Someone told me they thought it was a peacock, but to me it looks far too big for a peacock, looks almost like a wild turkey.? I certainly don't mind if Big Bird has a snack, but if it's someones' pet, I'd hate to see it get hurt if it's roaming around free.?? (have tried to get a picture, but no luck)?<br>

A couple weeks ago a neighbor knocked on my door because a big bird had gotten her dogs barking and she wondered what it was. It wandered through all of the yards around mine. I am pretty positive it is a wild turkey. The pickings must be pretty slim at the end of winter if its coming into town from the woods!<br>

Glad I'm not "seeing things" and others have seen the bird as well. (I thought it was a turkey, too; way too big to be a peacock) It seems to be?EXTREMELY laid-back bird, just walking around the yard of my apartment building, doesn't act like it's scared of anyone.? (the first time I saw it, I was coming out the front door of my apartment building and Mariana across the street was on her porch and yelled "look at the turkey!:? At first I thought she meant me....... (smile))?<br>

Oh well, at least it's not like the hawks, who seem to view the birds eating the seed I put out as a buffet!? :(<br>

A wild turkey is a pleasure next to what we had the other night. Around 3 a.m. we awoke to scratching noises on the roof. Simon went out with the flashlight and there he was. A raccoon digging up our roof! Simon shined the light on him, but he didn't even flinch. Simon had to get the ladder and go up there with a stick and threaten him. I guess the wildlife feel very comfortable in the neighborhood.<br>

I put out some birdseed for the birds and a couple of times now over the past few weeks there's been a VERY large brown bird partaking of the birdseed. Haven't seen it fly, it just sort-of "strolls" around." It's between 2 1/2- 3 feet tall. Someone told me they thought it was a peacock, but to me it looks far too big for a peacock, looks almost like a wild turkey. I certainly don't mind if Big Bird has a snack, but if it's someones' pet, I'd hate to see it get hurt if it's roaming around free. (have tried to get a picture, but no luck)<br>
