<div dir="ltr">Sue,<div><br></div><div>Let's remember that Calvert Tract, LLP is NOT PARK LAND but privately-owned property which has generated a sizable annual property tax bill for the Cafritz family since 1958. That's 55 years of paying property taxes without generating income. A healthy portion of those taxes goes to paying for the many parks that surround Riverdale Park. Nothing is eating away at the town's parks so shed no tears. In fact, development will spawn a larger tax bill that will send even more dollars to the parks fund. Let the developer cry about that.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Just so you understand, when we bought the apartments on Natoli Place in July 2005, we paid $8,500 in property tax. In about three weeks we'll receive our next set of property tax bills for that property from the county which, if anything like last year, will be pushing $30,000 for the year! If you are genuinely concerned about wildlife, you should know the taxes are choking this horse ... </div>

<div>The appeal of the re-zoning of the Cafritz parcel in Riverdale (on Route 1), currently 38 aces of undeveloped (88% wooded) property,to a very dense, nearly totally paved mixed use town center, will be heard <span><span>Wednesday the 19th</span></span> at 9 am, in the Circuit Court for the county, on 14735 Main street, Upper Marlboro. It will take place in Judge Alves' courtroom. Five hours have been set aside for this hearing.
