to participate. Rockets, motors and supplies are available at the nearby Goddard Gift Shop (and many hobby shops or toy stores) and you can even get rocket construction and launch tips from our on-site experts on launch day! Don't want to launch your own
rocket? That's fine, too -- come out to watch, and cheer on our rocketeers!<o:p></o:p></span></p>

These launches have been part of Visitor Center programs since 1976.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

models that must not exceed D-class models. 1/2A or A models work best for our field. We do not permit models whose altitude may exceed 2,000 feet, nor do we normally allow glider models.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<b>Sunday, March 16<sup>th</sup>.</b> The focus will be on the MMS: Magnetospheric MultiScale spacecraft.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">You have likely heard about environmental conditions that lead to extreme weather events on earth, but did you know that there are also conditions far above Earth’s atmosphere
that trigger extreme weather events in space? In 2014 NASA will launch the Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) Mission<b><i> composed of four identical instrumented spacecraft, that will use the Earth's magnetic field as a laboratory in which to study the trigger
of space weather events: MAGNETIC RECONNETION.<o:p></o:p></i></b></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif""><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Magnetic reconnection happens when magnetic field lines come together, break apart and then exchange partners, snapping into new positions and releasing a jolt of magnetic
energy. This process lies at the heart of giant explosions on the sun, such as solar flares and coronal mass ejections, which can fling radiation and particles across the solar system. Scientists want to better understand this process so they can provide
advance warning of such space weather, which can affect satellites near Earth and interfere with radio communications.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif""><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Join us from 1-3 PM on March 16, 2014 at the Goddard's Visitors Center to learn more about the MMS mission through brief presentations from MMS scientists and a series
