The prize-winning German ensemble known as the Auryn Quartet takes
the stage at this salute to famed Austrian composer Franz Schubert,
with a Beethoven quartet added for good measure. Cellist Andreas
Arndt, violinists Matthias Lingenfelder violinist Jens Oppermann and
violist Stewart Eaton have performed together for close to 35 years,
maintaining a busy touring and recording schedule. <br>
<br>
They have been the quartet in residence at <i>Schubert, Schubert
and Schubert</i> in Washington, DC and performed at Lincoln
Center, New York. In London's Wigmore Hall they performed the
complete cycle of Beethoven's quartets. They'll tackle his String
Quartet in G Major, Op. 18 for this recital, as well as Schubert's
Quartet Movement D. 703 along with the composer's powerful and
popular <em>Death and the Maiden, </em>String Quartet D. 810.
