Good guess, Dwight, but it isn't bridge-building activity. The field suffered during the winter and needs attention from some moderately heavy/specialized equipment. I believe that Public Works Director Addison may be arranging for a contractor to attend to the issues up there. I also know that the nets need to go up before soccer games can start, and an earlier attempt to put the up failed because it was too muddy to get the cherry picker onto the field.<div><br></div><div>I'll ask Director Addison for an estimated schedule for reopening and let everyone know.</div><div><br></div><div>Best,</div><div><br></div><div>Alan<br><br>On Thursday, April 16, 2015, Dwight Holmes <<a href="mailto:dwightrholmes@gmail.com">dwightrholmes@gmail.com</a>> wrote:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr">Andre-<div>I see you're reminding the list that no one has responded to your earlier question! Excellent :) First of all, that's the park known locally as the Field of Dreams. There's a history to that which you can probably Google, or maybe if one of the town historians is so inclined they can recount the story for us all (it precedes my time here by several years). In any case, as to your question, I have no actual information, only speculation. Included in a recent town notice on the Cafritz construction, I believe it mentioned that preliminary work was going to begin in preparation for the bridge that's going to be built across the tracks and connect with Rivertech Ct. IIRC, part of the property on which the Field of Dreams sits is actually owned by the University. As part of the deal that made that bridge possible, the University and the town swapped some land. In any case the road leading up to the bridge (via a roundabout) is going to have to cut into the Field of Dreams property somewhat.</div><div><br></div><div>The roping off may or may not have something to do with the bridge construction.
