I've also given her a few dollars when I can and when I've asked her if she's ok, she gives me the sweetest smile and says she's fine. Yes, I KNOW there's lots of homeless out there, yes I KNOW we can't change the world, yes I KNOW many people are on the streets because of their own actions - but when you see one little woman outside every day like she was at 5:15 this morning, sitting all wrapped up in a chair, it does get to you. (at least it does, me). I don't know what my life might hold in store somewhere down the line, so I try to help others as best I can. Sorry, I didn't mean to stir up a controversy, just wondered if anyone had any ideas. </span><span></span></div> <br><div class="qtdSeparateBR"><br><br></div><div class="yahoo_quoted" style="display: block;"> <div style="font-family: HelveticaNeue, Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial, Lucida Grande, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"> <div style="font-family: HelveticaNeue, Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial, Lucida Grande, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;"> <div dir="ltr"> <font face="Arial" size="2"> On Friday, September 25, 2015 7:06 AM, Bruce Wernek <bruce.wernek@verizon.net> wrote:<br> </font> </div> <br><br> <div class="y_msg_container"><div id="yiv1410327369"><div><div style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial; font-size: 12px;"><div>Audrey<br clear="none"><br clear="none">Seems to me like you are doing the lecturing.<br clear="none"><br clear="none">I've hired and continue to hire (for ~20 years) homeless folks to work in the yard and on the house/properties. I found out she lost her mother recently. What I want to say, is that if you talk to these people they are real human beings and they have names and deserve some help. I would also like to find a solution to help these people. There's a middle-aged African/American woman that I see quite frequently very early in the morning, she seems to stay on the bus benches near the Rite Aid or the Wells Fargo Bank on Route 1. Sometimes I've seen her in a little fold-up chair. One time I saw her later in the morning, she seemed to be rather "out of it," for want of a better phrase, so I contacted the police and asked if they could see if she was ok (she insisted she was, but seemed rather incoherent). I realize that the police/town can't force anyone to get off the streets or go into a shelter; on the other hand, I hate to see someone in that situation, esp. as cold weather will be here soon. </span></div></div><div id="yiv1410327369yui_3_16_0_1_1443112508743_3957"><div class="yiv1410327369MsoNormal" style="background: white;"><span style="color: black;"> </span></div></div><div id="yiv1410327369yui_3_16_0_1_1443112508743_3958"><div class="yiv1410327369MsoNormal" style="background: white;"><span style="color: black;">Any suggestions? </span></div></div><div id="yiv1410327369yui_3_16_0_1_1443112508743_3959"><div class="yiv1410327369MsoNormal" style="background: white;"><span style="color: black;"> </span></div></div><div id="yiv1410327369yui_3_16_0_1_1443112508743_3960"><div class="yiv1410327369MsoNormal" style="background: white;"><span style="color: black;">Thanks. </span></div></div><div id="yiv1410327369yui_3_16_0_1_1443112508743_3972"><div class="yiv1410327369MsoNormal" style="background: white;"><span style="color: black;"> </span></div></div><div id="yiv1410327369yui_3_16_0_1_1443112508743_3973"><div class="yiv1410327369MsoNormal" style="background: white;"><span style="color: black;">Sue Collins</span></div></div><div><div class="yiv1410327369MsoNormal" style="background: white;"><span style="color: black;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><div id="yiv1410327369AOLMsgPart_2_675ab570-8ab3-4e0c-bc82-488d8edd7396" style="margin: 0px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Tahoma, Verdana, Arial, Sans-Serif; font-size: 12px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"><pre style="font-size: 9pt;"><tt>_______________________________________________TownTalk mailing listTo postto the list, send mail to<a class="yiv1410327369parsedEmail" href="mailto:TownTalk@riverdale-park.org" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" shape="rect" ymailto="mailto:TownTalk@riverdale-park.org">TownTalk@riverdale-park.org</a><a class="yiv1410327369parsedEmail" href="mailto:TownTalk-request@riverdale-park.org" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" shape="rect" ymailto="mailto:TownTalk-request@riverdale-park.org">TownTalk-request@riverdale-park.org</a> is forautomated subscription processingonly<a href="http://riverdale-park.org/mailman/listinfo/towntalk" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" shape="rect">http://riverdale-park.org/mailman/listinfo/towntalk</a>For moreinformation about Riverdale Park, visit <a href="http://www.riverdaleparkmd.info/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" shape="rect">http://www.riverdaleparkmd.info</a></tt></pre></div> </div></div></div></div></div><br><br></div> </div> </div> </div></div></body></html>
