Bruce, I don't think you came to the meeting where we saw the original station design and then the change to solid wall. What we want is the original design. The petition is important and I urge all members of the community to sign it. From what I heard at the meeting, the Purple line is not going to do anything, they are going to flip it to the county and have the county pay for it. I know Dannielle Glaros is working on this with the county and hopefully she can make it happen.

I think the Purple Line team is willing to work with the Town on the Purple Line train station at E/W highway and Kenilworth Ave. The biggest hurtle to overcome is cost. A wall is cheaper than a platform.

I'm not sure if a petition is really going to accomplish anything. Say you get 5000 signatures of people who don't like the wall. Then what? What's next? Time is a big issue. The quicker a decision is made the better. With a petition you go back to square one, no wall and no alternative.

I think it would be more fruitful to offer an alternative(s) to the Purple Line team not a petition. Then setup a meeting with the Town, locals, and Purple Line team to review. Doing so will open the discussion for a solution. I was thinking of perhaps a partial wall with a reasonably large platform under the tracks. It will be cheaper to build than a full length platform and may be acceptable to the Purple Line team. I'm certain there are other options. Any ideas?
And I do like Dwight's comment, right on the mark.
