<div dir="ltr"><div>Greetings, neighbors, friends & TownTalk list members:</div><div><br></div><div>For those who don't know, I am the TownTalk list moderator. One of my functions is to moderate the list, and interject where list rules need to be reviewed and very rarely enforced.</div><div><br></div><div>There aren't many rules.  If you'd like to read them, every TownTalk message has, in the footers, a link to the TownTalk webpage (

<p>Electioneering is not permitted on e-mail lists supported by the Town of Riverdale Park."</p><p><br></p><p>For better or worse, this rule exists without much 'case law' to support it, and no written regulations to further define it.  Here is how your current List Moderator sees it - I believe this is consistent with past practice as well.</p><p><br></p><p>*TownTalk subscribers may post links to informational websites of candidates for political office - local, state, national - if they desire. Please do not copy/paste campaign positions, blurbs or talking points from or about the candidate here. Again, you may post a link to those sources, and, if you want, summarize in a sentence or two why you favor that candidate. Such statements should be kept very succinct, and should not include negative statements about other candidates.<br></p><p></p><p>*Subscribers may also post announcements for local campaign events - time, place, who will be there, function.</p><p>In short, the emphasis should be on information sharing, which is welcome - not electioneering/campaigning, which is not.</p><p>Thanks in advance for everyone's cooperation in this matter.</p><p><br></p><p>Dwight Holmes<br></p>
