On Sunday, unfortunately, I had to call the police to make a theft report (3 bird feeders from my back yard - weird).

Anyway, I was kind of embarrassed but I knew that by providing the report, the police department would have better insight into crime trends in our Town.

My personal experience is that they took the crime very seriously, despite the low-value and "odd" nature of the items that were stolen. It was NOT dismissed or ridiculed.

A good analogy might be when you go for a physical. You tell the doctor all of your symptoms or review all systems, so that they can better help you.

Hi all,
A few thefts were brought up at the Chief's Community Advisory Committee this evening. As a result, I just wanted to remind folks that you should report all thefts to the Riverdale Park Police Department, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem. The
person who stole your shovel may be the same person that broke into your neighbor's house. Each bit of information helps the police put the pieces of the puzzle together.

The Riverdale Park Police Department's non-emergency number is (301) 927-4343. For emergencies, dial 911.
Regards,
