[RP Town Announce] Meetings TONIGHT (August 1, 2005)

Monday, August 1, the Town Council will have its monthly legislative
session at 8 pm, Town Hall, 5008 Queensbury Road.  This monthly
meeting is where most of the business of the Town is decided. All
residents are encouraged to attend to learn about what is happening in
town, and to bring up any concerns they might have.  One item on the
agenda is discussion of a request from the MNCPPC (Maryland National
Capital Parks and Planning Commission) to re-open the access road into
the park next to the Anacostia River on 51st Avenue in Ward 2. 
Another item is a request for a dance hall permit from the Riverdale
Pizza Pub.  Anyone wanting more information about this meeting can
call Town Hall at (301) 927-6381.

At the end of the legislative session it is anticipated that there
will be be a motion to move into closed legislative session to
consider action on a personnel matter initially brought up before the
Public Works Committee (acting as a grievance board).  If the council
decides to move into closed session, the public will be required to
leave the council chambers.

Tomorrow night, as announced last week, there will be a meeting of the
Communications Committee, and observance of National Night Out.
