CONSTRUCTION UPDATE NOTICE 

 

Weeks of: August 17, 2015 and August 24, 2015 

 

What to Expect On-Site the Next Two Weeks: 

During the next two weeks of work, the General Contractor, L.F. Jennings,
will continue construction of the Whole Foods Market and Building #3.
Underground utility work to install storm drains and sewers is proceeding in
multiple areas on the site. Electrical conduits are complete from Route1 to
Whole Foods Market. Pepco crews are currently installing cabling and
equipment for permanent power on site. The sanitary sewer work is ongoing
and will continue. The storm drain installation around the Whole Foods
Market has begun. 

 

Lane Closures: 

New storm water outfall line under Route 1 has been installed. Other utility
connections for sanitary sewer, water, Verizon, Comcast and gas will now
commence. 

 

Future Plans: 

. Two week to two month look-ahead - 

o Continue all of the above work but start an additional building to provide
new retail to the area. 

o Start construction of the Whole Foods Market parking lot. 

o Start construction of the pond at the northeast corner of the site. 

o Start utility relocation for the construction of the CSX Crossing east of
the railroad tracks. 

o Begin widening of Route 1, installation of curb & gutter, and construction
of on-site roads. 

o Start installation of a traffic signal at Van Buren St. & Route1. 

o Begin construction of miscellaneous site structures in Gateway Park. 

o WGL to begin relocation of existing gas main in Maryland Ave. followed by
installation of new storm drain outfall to Wells Run box culvert. 

 

. Two to six month look-ahead - 

o Start additional retail buildings. 

o Start interior fit-out of Whole Foods. 

o Finish widening of Route 1. 

o Opening of Gateway Park. 

 

Work Hours: 

Work activity will be taking place Monday - Sunday between the hours of 7
a.m. and 7 p.m. However, work on the State highway will be restricted to
9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
