Karen,
You should try freecycle (www.freecycle.org)... actually, the one for this
area is the Adelphi/Hyattsville list:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/freecycleADHY/
Freecycle is basically an online way to get and give away free stuff. People
e-mail you if they're interested in what you're offering and you usually
give priority to the first response. We got a ton of bricks this way and
we've given away everything from used desks to packages of unopened diapers.
It's a nice way to find a home for stuff you no longer need, provide a home
for stuff others don't want, or let somebody else haul your bricks away ; )
I could go on and on about freecycle and how wonderful it is, but you
probably get the picture.
Happy Holidays to you and the kids!

Do any of you know anyone who might be looking for bricks (for small
construction projects, etc)? We recently took out our chimney and have them
in a pile in our front yard. We thought we had someone who was going to
take them, but they weren't the right color, if you can believe it...
Would be greatful for any suggestions..
Thanks,
Karen
