JMHO but it seemed to me that by raising the issue in the manner it was 
put Dan in a position of needing to defend himself.

That is not to discount the issue of puppy factories.
As for pet cost, sometime just ask me about DVD, my pound dog, the last 
in a long line of high maintenance females in by life. Yes, the "great 
white hunter" is female.
