If you receive TownTalk in digest form (several posts bundled together
in one email) you may sometimes miss some of the text, attachments,
and formatting.
In place of a message's text, you will sometimes see
"An HTML attachment was scrubbed"
(with a link to a largely unreadable display of the message).
This happens when you receive the digest in "PLAIN TEXT" format.
The alternative is to receive the digest in "MIME" format.
(Note that this applies only to DIGEST mode, and can be ignored if
you receive each post as a separate email.)
With the MIME format, you will see all the text, and you
will also see things like tables, bold, italics and attachments.
Strangely, PLAIN TEXT is the default digest format (even though the
software recommends the MIME format).
A few email programs cannot handle MIME. But for most people
MIME is far better.
So give MIME a try to see if it works better for you -
you can always revert back to PLAIN TEXT mode.
Follow these steps to receive the digest in MIME format:
1) Goto http://riverdale-park.org/mailman/options/towntalk
2) It may ask you to enter your TownTalk email address and password.
Do so and click Login.
(Don't know your password? Click on the "Remind" button at the bottom
of that page to be sent a password reminder.)
3) Then a page entitled "TownTalk mailing list membership configuration"
will display.
4) Scroll down until you see the "Get MIME or Plain Text Digests?" option.
(It is the 3rd item under "Your TownTalk Subscription Options" with the blue-grey background).
4) On the far right side, click on the small circle next to to the word "MIME".
5) Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the "Submit My Changes" button.
The page will refresh.
6) Optionally, click on the "Log out" button in the upper right corner.
