[RP TownTalk] changes in homestead tax credit process

Here's something worth sticking in your property tax file as a
reminder ... starting this year, the state is now requiring homeowners
to "opt in" to request the homestead tax credit.

In the past, if you qualified, it was automatically applied. Now
you'll receive a registration form along with your assessment.
Riverdale Park residents got assessment notices in January of 2007, so
it shouldn't be until 2010 that we see this.

If you have aging parents or grandparents in MD who are not as quick
with paperwork as they used to be, you may want to help make sure they
get their credit.
