Adrianne and neighbors,
There have been a large number of breaks throughout the area due to extreme temps a few days back. The breaks then become apparent as temps climb. WSSC has been informed of the Madison/Taylor break and hopefully will be able to address it soon. Thanks to all who reported it to town government and WSSC.
Best wishes,
Vern

Subject: water main break at Madison and Taylor
Water is bubbling up in the middle of Madison Street at the corner of Taylor
Road. It has been active from at least 8:30 am, when I first saw it. I
reported it to the Riverdale Police dept dispatch, who declined to report it and
instead gave me the emergency number to WSSC. I have not been able to get
through to WSSC; the line has been constantly busy for hours on end. I
reported it to the fire department since there is a fire hydrant just a few feet
away. Almost 4 hours later, it doesn't look like anyone has investigated or
done anything so I reported it to the fire department again. And WSSC's
emergency line is still busy.
This is a disconcerting trend since there seems to have been a similar
problem at the corner of 410 and Taylor. What's going on and why is the response
so slow? This might only be a bad problem now, but the longer it goes on it
can become a neighborhood disaster...
