[RP TownTalk] A Jazzy June at Riversdale

Hi all! It seems it's been awhile since I updated you last, but I hope
you'll agree that it's been worth the wait! Tomorrow, Wednesday June 24,
Riversdale will be kicking off the annual Jazz on the Portico series.
We've got a great local group, the Sandra Johnson Quintet, to jumpstart
our summer concerts. A DC resident, you might recognize Johnson if you
popped by last year's August Jazz on the Portico concert. The group also
performed at many venues throughout the area. "The local crowds seem to
like me ...people do get up and dance," Johnson said in a recent Gazette
interview. So be ready to bust a move! 

 

The concert runs from 7-8pm and is completely FREE! You are welcome to
purchase dinner before the show or pack up some of your favorite
munchies and bring them along. The weather outlook is nice and sunny for
tomorrow, but with the constant flux in the weather as of late, you'll
be happy to know we'll move the concert inside in the event of rain. So
whether it's a night of music outside on the lawn or a concert inside
the historic house, Riversdale's got you covered!  

 

Keep an eye out for info concerning additional upcoming concerts, a
Hands-On History Day for children on July 23, our summer Seasonal
Selections Open Hearth programs, and the annual Battle of Bladensburg on
August 15.
