Tony Medina Answers: What Do Authors Do?
Sunday, May 17 3 pm

Join children’s author Tony Medina as he shares his writing
experiences with readers of all ages. He’ll share his writing process
from the original idea, through working with a publisher and an
illustrator. In Love to Langston, Medina’s original poetry offers
young readers an exciting glimpse into the life of Langston Hughes,
one of America's most beloved poets. Each of Medina's engaging poems
explores an important theme in Hughes' life and extensive notes expand
upon the poems, giving a broader picture of Hughes’ life and the time
in which he lived. The forthcoming I and I Bob Marley is a biography
in verse about the legendary reggae musician. Medina is a prolific
poet and writer whose work has appeared in many anthologies. He is
also the author of DeShawn Days and Christmas Makes Me Think for
children. Medina lives in the Washington DC area and is an English
professor at Howard University. All ages.
